Drifting is a kind of driving technique that involves the intentional
over-steering that causes loss of traction in rear wheels through
turns, while maintaining control and high speed in the corner.
Professional drifting competitions are being held worldwide and people
are very much hooked in this type of extreme hobby. The history of
drifting was started in 1970s in Japan. The popularity of this sport
has led to the invention and popularity as well of the now favorite
hobby of extreme sports lovers, the RC drift cars.
Most sports analysts will tell you that once you watch RC cars
drifting, you’ll be hooked and surely love the challenging game. Maybe
they’re right, because lots of people already are captivated in this
fun entertainment.
There are two types of RC drift cars: the electric and
the nitro drift car. An electric drift car is battery-powered. It can
you give you easy maintenance and mostly run quietly and smoothly. Its
electric motors produce instantaneous torque and fast throttle
response. Commonly, the electric models are lightweight and recommended
for beginner drifter.
A nitro drift car uses a fuel or oil in order to run. Running this type
gives you the opportunity to as if run a real car. Usually, nitro drift
cars tend to run faster than the electric models and they are able to
be driven for longer periods of time. But with their increased weight,
they are more prone to mechanical wear and high speed collisions than
the electric drift cars. They also require higher maintenance as they
are more exposed to dirt and mess because of the unburned oil contained
in the engine.
For drifting, the electric drift cars are the ones recommended because
they are lighter weight, contain durable motors and easy to maneuver.
Nitro RC cars have a tendency to overheat the engines when used in a
drifting competition.
Radio-controlled drift cars are usually equipped with special low grip
wheels so that cars are able to slide easily. Typically, higher end
drift cars contain a four-wheel drive machine and made from high
quality PVC pipes. 4×4 cars are easier to be controlled and recommended
for easy drifting. Some of the popular brands of RC drift cars are those that are supplied by Tamiya and Yokomo.
